A recipe for a quick snack. These sandwiches are made very quickly, turn out very fresh, bright, and delicious. They often come to my rescue when unexpected guests arrive, are great for picnics, and for breakfast... truly magical sandwiches. The key to making them is to use quality and fresh products: good creamy butter, juicy onions, real juicy garden tomatoes, and preferably homemade mayonnaise.

To prepare sandwiches with onions, tomatoes, and herbs, fry slices of baguette in butter on one side.
Spread butter on the untoasted side of each slice, and top with onions cut into thin half-rings.
Next, layer tomatoes cut into thin slices on top. Evenly spread mayonnaise on top and sprinkle with black pepper.
