The dough for this cabbage pie turns out just wonderful, the filling is tender and soft. The pie is very, very delicious! You can enhance the filling with, for example, mushrooms or pieces of boiled chicken breast. Feel free to experiment.
For the dough:
Flour
4 cups
Yeast
1 tbsp (dry)
Sugar
2 tbsp
Salt
1/2 tbsp
Milk
1 cup
Butter
1 cup
For the filling:
White Cabbage
1 head (medium)
Eggs
2 pcs (boiled)
Salt
1 tbsp
Butter
1.5 tbsp
Olive Oil
2-3 tbsp
Milk
1/2 cup
To make cabbage pie, mix sifted flour with sugar, salt, and yeast. Then add pieces of butter and mix with hands until crumbly.
Then add milk and knead the dough. Place it in a warm place for 40 minutes to let it rise.
Now, let's prepare the filling for the cabbage pie. Shred the cabbage, add salt, and mix. Pour boiling water over the cabbage and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then drain the water and sauté the cabbage for 10 minutes in a mixture of olive and butter (over high heat). Then add milk and simmer for another 20 minutes over low heat. Stir while simmering and season with salt to taste. Once the cabbage is cooked, let it cool slightly.
Divide the dough in half, roll out one piece and place it on a baking sheet. Top with the cabbage and chopped boiled eggs.
Cover with the other piece of dough, seal the edges well, prick with a fork, and brush with egg wash.
Bake the cabbage pie in the oven at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes. And here is our delicious cabbage pie ready! It's very delicious!
